We had the pleasure of an exclusive Q&A with her, during which she shared incredible insights and a few unforgettable anecdotes we’re still savoring.
What's the most inspiring food you've ever eaten and where did you eat it?
The most inspiring food I’ve ever eaten was a garlic sauce in Ireland. I was in Dublin at a regular shop.. I got some shredded beef and lamb over fries with the garlic sauce over it…. And it was the most amazing thing I’ve ever tasted before. When I got back to the states I repeatedly tried to remake it, but never got even close to what I tasted in Ireland.
Where is the most inspiring place you have ever been and how does it inspire you?
The most inspiring place I’ve been to… I don’t think I’ve been to “the most” inspiring place yet. Every city, state, or country I travel to inspires me somehow. Whether through their food, art, or atmosphere. I’m inspired walking downtown at night with my dog.
Who is the most inspiring person you've ever met and how did you meet them?
The most inspiring person I’ve ever met was my Pop-pop.
What's the most inspiring book you've ever read, and why?
The most inspiring book I’ve ever read is, Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dezpenza.
It challenges you to look at life and the energy you put out from a different perspective. It challenges you to do better and be better.
What time of year is most inspiring to you, and can you tell us a story about a time spent in that season?
Fall is the most inspiring time of the year for me. The weather is changing, the leaves are falling, and there are a plethora of holidays and activities going on. I remember going to school in the fall up until Valentine's Day. It was a great time filled with laughs, family, and most of all—FOOD. Comfort food in the winter is one of my life's highlights. It inspires me to play and be more creative with food.
Chef Aziza Young’s story is about passion, perseverance, and a love for food that runs deep in her veins. Her candid reflections, creative flair, and powerful work ethic continue to inspire, leaving us all eager to see what she’ll cook up next. Until then, we’ll be reminiscing about this conversation—and perhaps trying our hand at her famous short rib lasagna.
